Will Smith is a god damn hero for numerous roles. However he recently spoke on a more recent flick, Concussion, and had this to say…
“I thought Concussion would have a bigger impact. I knew it would be hard because people love the game, but the science is so overwhelming, and it’s something that we really need to take a look at. I thought that people would get behind the mission of that. I was surprised that people were absolutely like, ‘Nope, I’m not stopping watching football, so I don’t want to know.’”
Here’s the deal – No American will stop watching the NFL or football because of a Hollywood script or story. Quite frankly, we don’t care who gets hurt. That’s just the reality. American’s love the violence and if men are willing to play, we will be willing to watch. It’s the modern day gladiator. I do think the NFL has done a great job curbing our expectations with the new rules but the violence of the game is a staple of what makes it so great. As is the case in any scenario, if it doesn’t personally effect us we don’t mind.
I also think it’s funny that Will Smith really thought he had that much influence. So much so that he would get Americans to stop watching football. Good lord!
Still his best scene of all-time…. Incredible
