I’m a fan of Odell Beckham Jr. Shit, I even have him on my fantasy football team. However, it’s time that he stops playing as a celebrity and starts playing as a football player. The flamboyant diva wide receiver who started his career by fearlessly running over the middle and grinding for every yard seems to have lost his ways as the fame has grown.
Last night Odell had 3 catches for 23 yards. No, it wasn’t a great game but that’s not the troubling statistic. What’s more troubling is his inability to avoid personal fouls, taunting penalties, and unsportsmanlike behavior. For the last year and a half the opposing defensive back gets under his skin or he’s seen pouting on the sidelines. Worse yet, his opponents know how to work him over: “You watch film and he’s competitor. He likes to fight and get in people’s heads,” Rhodes said, of Beckham. “He was cool in the beginning. But as he tried to get me riled up (I went back at him). I know his game.”
Beckham has all the talent in the world, but he’s killing his image as a pure football player and his distractions are causing the Giants serious problems. Steve Smith Sr. plays fearless and angry. He also plays for the Ravens and does everything possible to help them win. That’s the approach Beckham should try to embrace.

Can’t have this.
