One University of Colorado football player is facing drug charges and another was cited for assault after police say the two got into a fight outside a bar in downtown Boulder just hours after the Buffs defeated Utah at Folsom Field.
Abdul Jaleel Awini, 23, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, while Christopher Hill, 21, was cited with third-degree assault, according to court records.
According to a police, Hill punched Awini after an argument, and officers who responded found a substance that appeared to be cocaine in Awini’s wallet.
Great season Buffalo! One more game and you can win the Pac 12! BAM – Bar fight.
It looks like these two guys decided to celebrate the win and title a little early. And unfortunately a little Cocaine in the wallet isn’t ideal when you are knocked unconscious.
As Awini was being treated, a police officer found packets of what he believed to be cocaine inside Awini’s wallet. While hooked up to a heart monitor at Boulder Community Health’s Foothills Hospital, officers noted Awini’s heart rate spiked when they told him they had found the wallet, before mentioning the cocaine.
Awini asked the cops what charges he was looking at because, “you know I got some (expletive) in my wallet,” according to the report.
I can’t imagine what my heart rate would do in this situation. My heart rate spikes when my phone dies, the Vernors is gone, or it’s 5:00 on a Friday afternoon. It would likely explode if I was in this scenario. Let alone this guy probably already had some in his system.
Also – marijuana is legal in Boulder. I knew this would happen. Marijuana is the ultimate gateway drug. I learned that in my DARE program. They warned us of this and now its actually happening.
